Students have difficulty understanding the difference between learning and a good grade. One of complexity of being a Social Studies teacher is when you need to memorize large amount of information including the dates and events and some complex concept, there's a lot of factors also that contributing complexity for students but I guess I can improve it by using AI-powered simulations of historical events.

A key complexity in my course that could be clarified for students is the expectations around the use of technology and AI tools in completing assignments and assessments. While students may be familiar with AI in general, there can be confusion about what is considered acceptable use, how to cite AI assistance properly, and how it integrates with academic integrity policies. Clearly articulating this in the syllabus, with examples of appropriate and inappropriate uses, would help students understand boundaries, reduce anxiety, and promote responsible and ethical use of AI in their learning.

One complexity in my biology course that could be clarified is how different levels of biological organization, molecular, cellular, organismal, and ecological connect to each other. Students often learn these topics in separate units, which can make it difficult to see how processes at one level influence outcomes at another. Providing more explicit links and examples across levels would help students build a more integrated understanding of biology.

My students are in their first year at university. The course is a basic math course (linear algebra). The exam is closed book, so in a sense there is no danger that they would use AI to cheat the test. However, I am worried that they would not have the maturity to realize if, during the semester, they use AI to solve training exercises in a way that leads them to a false sense of understanding.
